Trustee Board candidates 2016
At the 2016 AGM we will be asking members to elect a new Trustee, Jan Rutherford, and to re-elect two existing Trustees, Jane Hill and Claire Mcclafferty.
Jan has two school-age children, the younger of whom is profoundly
deaf and has a cochlear implant. Jan is a Partner and member of the
investment committee at Scottish Equity Partners (SEP), where she leads
investments in high growth technology and technology-enabled companies
and oversees investments across the healthcare sector. A pharmacist by
background, prior to moving into the investment field, Jan held
operational and commercial roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
Originally from Scotland, Jan lives in London with her husband and their
Jane joined the NDCS Trustee Board in 2012. She lives in Sussex with
her five children, one of whom, Gracie (born 2005), is deaf. Gracie has
a severe to profound bilateral hearing impairment and has a cochlear
implant and a digital hearing aid.
Jane is a senior civil servant, currently a Legal Director in the Government Legal Department. She has extensive experience of setting strategy, developing policy, managing change in complex organisations, monitoring performance and ensuring that there are strong frameworks in place for financial and risk management.
Claire joined the trustee board in 2008 and lives in Lanark in
Scotland. She is the parent of four children, one of whom has severe
hearing loss and one of whom has moderate hearing loss. Her older
daughter is currently studying at university and her younger one is a
competitive swimmer and member of the GB Deaf Swimming Club. The family
are long standing members of the West of Scotland Deaf Children’s
Society and appreciate all the opportunities and support this, and their
membership of NDCS, has provided, especially in the early years.
Claire works part time as a social worker within a fostering service. She also works as a freelance grant assessor for a number of local and national charities.
