Children’s and young people’s health forum launched
26 January 2012
The Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley has announced a new Children’s and Young People’s Forum.
This comes in response to a campaign run by Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM), of which NDCS is a member. Mr Lansley received 1000 emails concerned with the lack of focus on child health within the NHS reform process.
The forum will be responsible for creating an outcomes framework for child health, tackling the barriers that are faced by disabled children and young people when accessing health services. Its recommendations will be used to help shape child health priorities in the annual mandate to the NHS from the Secretary of State for Health. The Forum will also have the task of answering questions raised by families of disabled children.
