Dingwall pupils send BSL video to the first minister
Pupils from Dingwall Academy in Scotland have created a British Sign Language (BSL) video letter to Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond. The pupils from Dingwall Academy started this campaign so this campaign as the current BSL course they sit does not count towards their UCAS points -
Have your say on reform of DLA
Despite fierce opposition from disability charities including NDCS, many deaf young people over 16 are set to lose their Disability Living Allowance (DLA) when it is abolished and replaced by a new benefit called Personal Independence Payment (PIP) under the UK Government’s welfare reforms. -
NDCS Scotland tells Scottish Government how to help deaf children feel happy!
NDCS Scotland has submitted a response to the Scottish Government’s Mental Health Strategy highlighting that it is concerned the strategy does not give the proper consideration of the specific needs of deaf children and young people and would like to see this prioritised as an area of challenge.
