If I could change one thing for deaf children and young people in Wales...

During spring 2009, deaf youngsters throughout Wales sent in posters to tell us about the one thing they would like to change for deaf children and young people in Wales... it's not too late to tell us what you would like to change!

On May 5 2009, NDCS Cymru took a group of young campaigners to the Senedd to present Jane Hutt, then - Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, with over 40 posters. The posters had been decorated by deaf youngsters to tell us about the things they would like to change for deaf children and young people in Wales.

The posters were also passed on to Rhodri Morgan, who was First Minister at the time of the campaign, and to the Children's Commissioner, Keith Towler.

It's not too late to get involved with If I Could Change One Thing!

If you know a young deaf person who was unable to take part in our If I Could Change One Thing campaign last year, NDCS Cymru still wants to know their ideas. NDCS Cymru will use the posters we recieve to help inform our campaigns work and our responses to Welsh Assembly Government consultations.

So please download a poster below and ask deaf children and young people you know to write/draw/make a collage about the one thing that they would like to change for deaf children and young people in Wales:

All posters should be sent to:

NDCS Cymru, 4 Cathedral Road, Cardiff, CF11 9LJ

Thank you!

Get Deaf Aware! - Deaf Awareness Week 2010

Young people who responded to If I Could Change One Thing  told us that they wanted hearing people to understand more about being deaf.

That's why we decided to create a new poster to tell children and teachers how to include deaf children and young people in everything that happens in school.

Deaf children and young people across Wales helped us to create the poster, which we sent to every school in Wales to celebrate Deaf Awareness Week 2010 (28 June to 4 July).

You can find out more about our Get Deaf Aware! poster here!
