BATOD lends support to acoustics campaign

NDCS's campaign for better acoustics in schools has now recruited an important new ally - the national organisation representing teachers of deaf children.

Back in May, NDCS announced that the following organisations are also demanding the Government take urgent action to ensure that all new schools sound good:

  • British Association of Education Audiologists
  • British Council of School Environments
  • British Society of Audiology
  • Communication Trust
  • Ear Foundation
  • Essex County Council (which has taken a lead in improving acoustics in schools locally)
  • National Association of Schoolmasters Workers Union of Teachers (NASUWT)
  • National Autistic Society (NAS)
  • National Children's Bureau (NCB)
  • Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID)
  • Sense
  • Skill
  • Special Educational Consortium
  • Treehouse
  • Voice Concern

And recently, TV design expert, Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs sent a message of support for the Sounds good? campaign.

With BATOD (the British Association of Teachers of Deaf Children), the leading organisation representing teachers of deaf children now onboard, the call for for action on acoustics in schools is even louder.

NDCS is calling on the Government to make sure that all new school buildlings sound good, by introducing a new requirement for acoustic testing. Over 320 NDCS supporters have now contacted their MP to demand action on this important issue.
