Hearing aid services
As a result of campaigning by a number of organisations, including the NDCS, the government has modernised audiology services and digital hearing aids are now available through the NHS. However we are campaigning to reduce the unacceptably long waiting times faced by deaf children and young people when using this critical service.
For many children, particularly those identified as deaf later in life it is not unusual to have to wait for several years before receiving the hearing aids that they need. This means wasted time, and can mean wasted potential at school as children struggle to keep up with their hearing peers.
We are campaigning to reduce waiting times for hearing aid services throughout the UK and to ensure that deaf children and young people receive the high quality audiology service they are entitled to expect.
