We've got Big Plans for deaf children and young people in Scotland

Our question: Do you?

At the end of 2007, NDCS conducted the biggest ever national conversation with deaf children and young people. By the end of the exercise, almost 2,000 deaf children and young people had responded to the consultation, including 200 from Scotland.

NDCS Scotland has been campaigning to make sure that the Scottish Government, MSPs, local councils, NHS boards and youth service providers listen to what you had to say.

NDCS Scotland's campaign

In October 2007, we managed to secure the first every Member’s Business debate in the Scottish Parliament on NDCS.

MSPs from all parties signed a motion welcoming the Change Your World consultation, and then debated the issues in the Chamber of the Scottish Parliament.

We asked the Scottish Government to listen to what young people had to say - and they have!

On 18 June 2008, we invited people from all walks of life to come to Committee Room One of the Scottish Parliament to celebrate the launch of the NDCS consultation responses.

Lots of enthusiastic young people attended. NDCS is particularly grateful to the girls from Dalziel Academy in Motherwell and from Dingwall High School in the Highlands who came to the Parliament to explain what needs to be done to change the world for young deaf people.
