Job description

Here’s what some of our volunteers have said about their experience of volunteering for NDCS:

"Volunteering is tiring as you have to get up early and be ready for anything but its a great opportunity to meet some brilliant people and take part in some fab activities!"
Thaisa Whistance

"I thought volunteering as a communicator would just involve signing on the sidelines but it’s much more involved than that. It's great to be a part of an organisation that's helping deaf children be proud of what they've got, not what they haven’t!”

Terry Smith

The desirable and essential skills for each volunteering position vary, but most important is an interest in helping children. Here are some of the roles you could fulfil as an NDCS volunteer:

Events volunteers
The Events Team is based in Birmingham and we run one day, weekend and week long children's events all over the UK. These include activities such as various sports, arts and outdoor adventures.  We also run family events which can be one day or whole weekend events.

Local group volunteers
Local groups operate all over the country. You can contact those in your area directly to see what opportunities are available. Visit our local groups section for more information.

Family supporters
Family supporters listen and provide support and information to parents and carers of deaf children across England within the home.
