Andy Ford

Chair of Trustees

Andy Ford joined the Trustee Board in 2002 and has been Chair since 2006.

NDCS is an amazing organisation that works tremendously hard to improve the lives of deaf children and their families. I hope that, in some small way, I can help that work to continue and grow through bringing the same passion I have always felt in fighting the cause for my daughter to my role as a trustee

Andy's daughter Alice has a severe to profound hearing loss. His commitment to trying to give Alice the very best quality of life in terms of education and health has led to him becoming involved in many different projects.

Alice, who wasn't diagnosed until she was almost four, has been featured in BBC's See Hear as well as national and local press. She has also been involved in research by Nottingham and Manchester universities into the genetics of hearing loss. Andy has been a parent representative on the Children and Young Persons Group within the Modernising NHS Hearing Services project, run by the Department of Health.

Along the same lines, he has also been involved in the Modernising Paediatric Hearing Services project in Sheffield. Andy was a parent representative and Chair of the Sheffield Children's Hearing Services (CHEARS) Working Group for a number of years. Andy also sat on Sheffield Children's NHS Trust's Patient/Parent Council.

Andy has worked in the IT industry for the last 25 years and is a self employed IT consultant.
