Mike started his charity career in 1987 at Oxfam, where he worked for 17 years in a variety of roles and, after a further three years at the safe water, hygiene and sanitation charity, WaterAid, he joined NDCS in July 2008.

Mike’s achievements include the introduction of the first ever mailing with a £2 month ask; playing an instrumental role in the development of the current Gift Aid scheme, and introducing an integrated approach to the management of communications to all of Oxfam’s supports, from campaigners to major donors.

Mike is a Fellow of the Institute of Fundraising, and is Chair of the Institute’s Policy Advisory Board.  He is also a Trustee of the development charity, HelpAge International, and of Childlife, a partnership of four different charities working with children, young people and their families throughout the UK. Mike has a level 2 certificate in BSL, but recognises he needs to practice more!
