Matthew Hilton

Trustee

Matthew Hilton is Vice-Chair of the Trustee Board and Chairman of the NDCS’s Governance Committee.

We have hugely appreciated the support and service that Natasha and the rest of the family get from NDCS. Since becoming a Trustee, I’ve been privileged to see that effort from the NDCS perspective as well. I hope that I contribute to NDCS by bringing my professional and personal experience to the work of the Board. I hope, too, that my perspective as a parent of a deaf child with additional special needs brings a helpful extra dimension.

Matthew is father to 14-year-old Natasha and her two younger brothers. Natasha has a bilateral moderate to severe hearing loss and additional needs that mean she has a global developmental delay.

Natasha is spending her secondary school career at a special school, following her earlier experience in the hearing support facility of a local mainstream primary school.

Matthew is the Director of Higher Education Student Funding at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. He has previously been the Director of Employment Relations and Director of Strategy and Communications there, and was Principal Private Secretary to two Secretaries of State.
