TOPIC: Behaviour. Is this linked?

I am not only a parent but qualified in childcare so I know what is "expected" for a child aged 5. My daughter has all of a sudden (since half term and getting radio aid) started not wanting to go to school, she is also having emotional outbursts where it seems she cant controll. Her speech and learning is on target, her social skills too yet all of a sudden she has started using noises rather than words. Regressing slightly? I am due to have our second baby soon, and she is excited and kind. I just cant seem to controll these outbursts. As a teacher I am thinking this could be to do with the changes but as a mum im worried this could be linked to struggles with her hearing or maybe even autism? Anyone in a similar situation?

REPLIES TO THIS MESSAGE

Hi there, we only finally found out last November that my daughter has moderate hearing loss (she was 8) and she was given hearing aids to wear full time. At the outset she was so excited that she could hear things she'd not heard before and participate with her friends better etc., She was also given a radio aid which helped her massively in school and her work started to improve quite soon after. However, we went through a terrible time with emotional outbursts to the point I thought it would never end(!) but after a couple of months it did and I think it was just her adjusting to everything that was happening to her and now that she's come through it she is so much happier. I had all the same thoughts as you! I think I thought because she'd got the equipment she needed it was all good, but I think I overlooked the fact that even the good things can be stressful for her too. Hope this helps.
