Over the next few months we will be beginning to use Facebook in our campaigning and fundraising.
We will be creating a fan page with campaigns, fundraising and events that you can get involved in.
Until then, we wanted to let you know about Sounds good? - a campaign for high quality acoustics in schools and how you can help support this campaign.
Deaf children can’t achieve if they can’t listen and learn effectively in the classroom. Yet new schools are being built that ignore the Government’s own rules on acoustics.
As you may know, according to government figures, deaf children are 42% less likely to get 5 good GCSEs (including English and Maths) than hearing children. Deafness is not a learning disability and we believe that the quality of acoustics is one of several barriers preventing deaf children from reaching their full potential.
You can help by contacting your MP now and asking them to take action to make sure that all schools sound good for deaf children. Over 160 people have taken part so far but we need more. It’s really quick and easy, only takes a couple of minutes and you don’t even have to know who your MP is. Just put in your details and we do the rest, including composing a draft letter for you to send to your MP. We will also keep you updated on how the campaign is going.

A big thank you in advance for supporting our campaign, you can contact our campaigns team at campaigns@ndcs.org.uk.
