Weekend events
There will be two Who Am I? weekend events for young deaf people and their parents each year in different parts of Scotland.
NEW! The dates and venues for the 2010 events have been confirmed. Read more >
Why will there be weekend events?
In the NDCS Change Your World consultation, many of you told us that you would like to meet more young deaf people. The weekend events will give you lots of time to meet and make friends with other young deaf people. It also gives us lots of time to do fun activities and gives your parents an opportunity to meet parents of other young deaf people.
Why would I want to go on a weekend with my parents?
NDCS does a lot of work with parents of deaf children and young deaf people and we find that they like meeting other parents as much as you like meeting other young deaf people. So, at the weekend events, your parents will come along and do their own activities and talk about parent’s stuff. You’ll be doing fun activities with other young deaf people, so you won’t have to worry about them!
What will we do at the weekend events?
Who Am I? is all about feeling confident as a young deaf person and sharing your experiences of growing up deaf in a hearing world.
We'll be doing lots of fun creative things at the weekend events that help you express yourself in lots of different ways and say what’s important to you.
Our project workers will also attend the weekend events. The project workers are young, deaf adults who will be talking about their lives and experiences growing up as a young deaf person. They'll also lead fun activities.
