National Year of Reading theme archive

As part of the National Year of Reading, a new theme is announced each month.

We've been suggesting ideas and activities related to these monthly themes, which you can view in this archive.

 

  • April - Read all about it

    April’s theme was called 'Real all about it' and sought to encourage reading anything, anywhere at anytime!

  • May - Mind and Body

    May's theme was Mind and Body and was about celebrating the links between reading and health.

  • June - Reading Escapes

    The theme for June was all about how reading can take us somewhere else.

  • July - Rhythm and Rhyme

    The theme for July celebrated musical lyrics and poetry.

  • August - Read the Game

    In August, almost everyone wass talking, thinking, and reading about sport, with the Olympic Games showing every kind of sport imaginable. Amongst the most popular sports here in the UK is the beautiful game - football.

  • September - You are what you read

    The theme for September was all about exploring who you are, by looking at cultural, personal and local identities.
