Qualifications are an important way for young people to show their achievements so that they can make progress in their education and in employment. It is vital therefore that deaf young people are able to gain qualifications by proving their ability in exams.
Schools, colleges, universities and awarding bodies are all subject to laws which mean that arrangements can be put in place to help deaf learners access exams fairly.
This factsheet will explain why your child might need these sorts of arrangements; the arrangements that might be available; how to ensure they are in place for your child’s exams; and what to do if something goes wrong.
