Family Support in the East Midlands
Our Family Officer for the East Midlands is Mary McInnes (covering Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire).

“My role is to give clear information, advice and advocacy to families of deaf children relating to communication, education, benefits and technology. I also promote the vision and values of the NDCS, to empower families to support their deaf children in reaching their full potential.
“Before joining the NDCS, I was a family officer for a local deaf charity in Northampton for over five years and a communication support worker for six years.
“I look forward to helping your family in whatever way I can."

Local groups
Local deaf children's societies are run by parents and carers of deaf children, working together with local health and education professionals. They give emotional and social support to families with deaf children, and give deaf children the chance to meet outside of school.
