Family support in West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester (BME)
Our Family Officer for the West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester area (BME) is Abdul
Choudhury.

I’m the Family Officer for West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester. I have been a family officer since November 2008 and I’m based in Bradford.
"My main role is to support families of deaf children by providing information and advice regarding education, benefits, communication and technology.
"Another very important role of mine is to work with local deaf groups in my region and raise awareness of NDCS services, such as information and events. This includes encouraging minority ethnic parents to participate in meetings.
"Before joining NDCS, I was a communication support worker and I have also worked for Citizens Advice Bureau.
"Please feel free to contact me via the Freephone number (details below)."

Local groups
Local deaf children's societies are run by parents and carers of deaf children, working together with local health and education professionals. They give emotional and social support to families with deaf children, and give deaf children the chance to meet outside of school.
