“I am the Family Officer for Yorkshire and Humber. I am based in York which is quite central to the region I cover.

“My role is a varied one, but my two main areas of responsibility are:

  • family support, including providing information, advice and advocacy support to parents and carers of deaf children on issues of education, benefits and audiology, up to but not including representation at tribunals
  • promoting our policies and services throughout the region and being a point of contact for NDCS services within the region.

“The first area requires most of my focus but it is just as important to get the message out to service providers, local authorities and health authorities about parent-friendly services and the needs of deaf children and young people.

“I have been working for NDCS for over seven years, initially as part of the Listening Bus service based in our national office in London.

"I look forward to helping your family."
