What can I expect?
Although local deaf children's societies are all different, they all share a similar aim: Supporting families with deaf children.
Parents of deaf children can expect to meet others who share their experience of parenting a deaf child, and who have encountered some of the same situations.
Deaf children can expect to meet and make friends with other deaf children of their own age in a safe and fun environment.
Brothers and sisters of deaf children can expect to be involved in the group's activities whenever possible, meeting other deaf and hearing children of their own age.
All families with deaf children can expect to be supported by their local deaf children's society, regardless of their class, ethnic origin, nationality (or statelessness) or race, sexuality or marital status, religious belief, or the way their deaf child prefers to communicate.
