Family Officers
In Northern Ireland we have two Family Officers - Irene Bell and Barbara Wilson. They introduce themselves below.
Irene Bell - Family Officer for East Northern Ireland covering Counties Antrim, Down and Armagh.
"I am a Family Officer covering the eastern area of Northern Ireland and work part-time from the Belfast office. I offer support and advice to families of deaf children on any issues around deafness including education and benefits. I can also put you in touch with other families through local parents groups. As a parent myself I found my local group a great support and I made friends who I still keep in touch with 13 years later!
"Please contact me if you feel I can be of help or you would like some of our information. I can be contacted by phone or e-mail and am happy to visit at home. "
Barbara Wilson - Family Officer for Fermanagh, Tyrone, Londonderry, Armagh
"I am a Family Officer with NDCS covering the west of Northern Ireland. I work part-time hours from home and sometimes from our Belfast Office. I offer support and advice to parents/carers of deaf children on various issues eg. education options and benefits. This can be done over the phone or in person during a home visit. Geographically speaking the West of NI is quite big so it's a good job I don't mind driving!
"Please do contact me if you feel I can be of help or you just want to access some information. If I am not in please leave a message. I pick up my messages regularly. "

Local groups
Local deaf children's societies are run by parents and carers of deaf children, working together with local health and education professionals. They give emotional and social support to families with deaf children, and give deaf children the chance to meet outside of school.
What's on
Our What's On section lists events, family days, signed and interpreted performances, and much more.
