Signathon
Some deaf children use a language called British Sign Language (often this is abbreviated to BSL).
BSL is the language of the British Deaf community and is the first or preferred language of over 70,000 people. It is a visual language which uses handshapes, movement, facial expressions and body language to convey meaning. It is a full and complete language with a unique vocabulary and its own grammatical structure, which is different from that of English.
Fundraising tip: Children can be sponsored to learn some key signs within a given time frame.
