Current volunteer opportunities

There are exciting ways you can volunteer for us with deaf children, young people and their families to suit your skills and interests. Some of these opportunities are available across the UK and could be local to you.

Role: Office Volunteer London (Reception)

Location: Central London (near Old Street station)   

We are looking for two volunteers to help our teams with administrative, clerical and customer service tasks in our busy London office reception. In this role you will:

  • welcome visitors to the office
  • answer calls to our main switchboard  and transfer them to different teams
  • sign for deliveries, notify staff and store parcels safely
  • respond to emails that are sent to the Facilities inbox
  • receive, sort and distribute incoming post
  • book couriers to collect parcels  
  • use the franking machine to send post out.

Office Support volunteer -reception London Role description may 2018

Role: Office Volunteer London (Helpline)

Location: Central London (near Old Street station)   

We are looking for a volunteer to work with our Helpline team at our London office. In this role you will:

  • prepare documents using Microsoft Office
  • contact people on team's behalf
  • complete general office administrative tasks( filing, copying, etc)
  • receive and store documents and publications that arrive from printers
  • send documents / publications to parents / professionals in the post
  • keep paper and electronic records up to date

Our deaf group supporters help supervise children and young people during activities and ensure they get the most out our events.

Role: Presenter (Community Support Volunteer)

Location: Wales, West Midlands, East of England, East Midlands   

We are looking for deaf or hearing volunteers to help deliver deaf awareness workshops and presentations in local schools and community groups. We particularly need presenters on our Roadshow. 

If you are over 18 years old, are free during school hours, and occasional evenings or weekends and are passionate about deaf awareness, then this is the role for you.
