Deaf-friendly activities

There are more than 50,000 deaf children and young people in the UK. They all have the right to the same opportunities as a hearing child. But communication barriers mean that many mainstream youth facilities and activities are not accessible to deaf children and young people, so they are missing out.

We have worked with hundreds of organisations and with our support and advice have been able to include deaf young people in their activities - an outstanding result!

Moving on from this work, we are exciting to be launching our new Deaf-friendly Standards soon, which will help young people find your services more easily and provide you with more information, resources and online training. If you would like to get onboard then please e mail youthdevelopment@ndcs.org.uk.
