Freephone Helpline
Every journey starts with a first step
Thank you, you've done something amazing. By supporting NDCS every month you have helped a deaf child take their first steps towards a brighter future.
The NDCS Freephone Helpline is the only national helpline for families of deaf children in the UK.
As 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents with little or no knowledge of deafness NDCS is often the first place they turn for help.
Your first month’s gift could pay for a 20 minute call to our freephone helpline, where we will offer vital emotional and practical support to a newly diagnosed family.
What we do
Our trained helpline staff provide information on all aspects of childhood deafness including:
- Newborn hearing screening, hearing loss, hearing aids, cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids
- Communication and parenting
- Education for deaf children
- Benefits and financial support for families with deaf children
- Equipment for deaf children
- Information about other NDCS services
The helpline also provides support through specialist advisers:
- Our Audiology Adviser can provide information on, and advice about, your child's deafness, hearing aids, cochlear implant and health services.
- Our Technology Adviser can provide information and advice on equipment for deaf children (for example, equipment to help with watching the television, or to help children at school).
The NDCS Freephone helpline provided welcome information and support to over 8000 families and professionals last year*. Your kind gift this month enables us to continue to provide this vital resource.
