Family Weekends

Four months

Every journey starts with a first step

Thank you, you're doing something amazing. By supporting NDCS every month you are helping a deaf child take their first steps towards a brighter future.

Parents can often feel alone in dealing with their child’s deafness and that no one else understands. Family weekends are a place for parents to meet other parents and share their hopes and fears with those who really understand.

As a result of your contributions NDCS is able to provide residential family weekends where parents of newly diagnosed babies can meet and get together to share their experiences.

These give families the opportunity to gain information about the support available locally and nationally and share their experiences with other families. These weekends are be led by experienced NDCS staff, including parents of deaf children, who have their own personal experiences and insights of life with a deaf child.

While parents are learning, the children will be looked after by childcare experts who are experienced in working with deaf children. Activities are arranged according to age (from babies up to 14-year-olds) and are open to deaf children and their siblings.

Your gift this month will enable families and deaf children from across the country to benefit from family weekends and share experiences with other parents and families.
