New advertisement about accessible cinema

The Cinema Exhibitors' Association has produced an advertisement to be shown in cinemas to raise awareness of the availability of subtitled films.

The ad aims to address low take up of subtitled films in some areas and has been prepared with families of disabled people in mind, as well as disabled people themselves. The advert will be showing in cinemas from this week.

NDCS has welcomed the initiative and will continue to campaign for increased choice for deaf children at the cinema.

subtitled cinema

The website -'YourLocalCinema', has been great in advertising fims that are showing with subtitles. However, the cinemas still fall far short of being fully accessible with on average 1 film showing with 1 time slot on 1 day only per week. With most cinemas have mutiple screens available- would it be hard to have subtitles available on all current releases at least once a week !
