Clydesdale Bank donates to National Deaf Children’s Society

Staff at Clydesdale Bank’s Hertford Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) have donated £850 to the NDCS. The money is from the Bank’s charity auctions in September, when over 300 historic and collectable banknotes were sold.

Employees across Clydesdale Bank were asked to nominate charities to receive donations from the proceeds of the auctions. Lauren Worpole a member of staff at the Hertford FSC who has partial deafness chose NDCS based on their commitment to achieve their ultimate vision - a world without barriers to the achievement of deaf children.

Peter O’Gorman, managing partner of Clydesdale Bank’s Hertford FSC, said: “Donating £850 to this nominated charity in the current climate is terrific. We are overjoyed with the amount raised at the auctions and are delighted the money will support a worthy cause.”

Niki Michael, NDCS Head of Corporate, Community and Events, said: “Every day in the UK four babies are born deaf and many of these children struggle to communicate with their families. NDCS exists to support every deaf child from birth to independence and we are dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people. NDCS is funded almost entirely through public donations and it is the commitment of people and organisations, such as Clydesdale Bank, that helps us to continue to provide support for these families.”

This donation continues the good work undertaken by the Yorkshire and Clydesdale Bank Foundations over the last 12 months, which donated more than £555,000 to various charitable causes.

The auctions were held in conjunction with the launch of Clydesdale Bank’s new world heritage banknote collection, the first time in more than 20 years that the Bank has launched a completely new set of notes. The front of each new note honours a prominent and innovative Scot while the reverse featured one of Scotland’s five World Heritage Sites.
