NDCS Youth Advisory Board selected

23 August 2012

NDCS celebrates the launch of the second Young People’s Advisory Board. After a competitive recruitment process, 17 young people were picked to become members of the new Board.

During their term on the Board, young people will have the opportunity to attend 4 residential weekends, work with NDCS staff in their regions and represent theirs and other young people’s views and ideas through various other opportunities.

The Board was set up in 2011 and has young people aged 13-18 years old, from all over the UK. During their first residential weekend in Birmingham, young people got to know one another, learnt more about NDCS and their new roles, and engaged in fun activities and workshops. One YAB member commented that their highlight of their first weekend was “Meeting new friends and not struggling when we worked together”.

The Board also identified health, deafness and education as their priority areas for change. NDCS will be working hard to support the young people to make a difference on these issues over the coming year.
