Pay it Forward fund launches in Wales
Our Gearing Up project is an opportunity for deaf young people to meet and build up a support network of peers throughout Wales. The aim of the project is to support deaf young people aged between 14-18 years old who live in Wales, to develop their independence when they’re leaving school and choosing what to do next. This fund is an opportunity for young people to make a real difference to their lives and those of others.
The Pay it Forward (PiF) Fund is a pot of money that is there as part of the Gearing Up project to support deaf young people to do something good for their community.
Deaf young people are encouraged to come up with a great idea that will help them and their community. It can be anything they like, they might want to get a coaching qualification to start up a local football team, or want to set up a sign language club in their local area. Once they have the idea our project officer Lorna Langton will work with them to turn it into a great pitch to the PiF fund panel.
The deadline for applications is 31 May and young people will be notified by Friday 10 June.
Gearing Up is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.
