Job opportunities at RAD
The Royal Association for Deaf People (RAD) is advertising for the positions of Life Skills Advisor, Life Skills Assistant, Communication Support Worker and Community Support Worker.

All positions will require some occasional evening and weekend work.

Life Skills Advisors: Required in Surrey and East Kent, £18,500 - £22,078 p.a.
Life Skills Advisors are required to provide quality services to D/deaf people with learning disability and D/deaf people with mental health challenges.
They will assess service users’ needs, and provide communication and community support where needed, and life skills training.
Knowledge of Makaton and CACDP Stage 2 BSL are required.
These posts are part- or full-time (37.5 hrs per week), based in Dorking, Surrey, and in Gillingham, Kent.
Life Skills Assistants: Required in Surrey and East Kent, £13,248 - £17,662 p.a.
Life Skills Assistants are required to provide quality services to D/deaf people with learning disability and D/deaf people with mental health challenges.
They will assist the Life Skills Advisors in providing training in life skills, running small groups, and providing one-to-one support for service users in their homes.
Knowledge of Makaton and CACDP Stage 2 BSL are needed (or be working towards them).
These posts re part- or full-time (as above), based in Dorking, Surrey and Gillingham, Kent.
Communication Support Workers: £8 - £11 per hour
Sessional Communication Support workers are required to work with D/deaf learning disabled people and D/deaf people with mental health challenges, in colleges and other learning situations.
Makaton, BSL stage 2 and an ability to communicate in flexible ways are important.
The posts are available in various areas of London, and in West Kent.
Community Support Workers: £8 - £11 per hour
Community Support Workers are needed to provide one-to-one support for D/deaf learning disabled people and D/deaf people with mental health challenges in their own homes.
Using British Sign Language, Makaton, or other communication methods, they aim to give more choice, control and independence to service users.
The posts are available in Surrey (East, Mid, West and Guildford), in West Sussex, East Kent,and in Essex (Colchester area, Southend, Basildon, Chelmsford, Rochford), and in London (Enfield, Tottenham, South and East London).
