Safeguarding Deaf Children: Guidance for Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards

22 April 2010

NDCS has commissioned the University of Manchester to produce a framework to help Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards review their safeguarding arrangements for deaf children.

The review was recommended by the government in 2006 but most LSCBs have yet to undertake the review. The draft framework is included on the Department for Children, Schools and Families consultations website. The document can be found by going to http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/nsdu/consultations.shtml. Look down the right hand column under related documents, you will find the resource pack listed as the 6th item. Once you have downloaded it you will find it on page 128.

It would be helpful if as many people as possible sent their views on the consultation draft framework to the DCSF. Comments should be e mailed to lscb.guidance@nsdu.gsi.gov.uk by 9th June 2010.
