The NDCS Deaf Friendly Football Project is a ground-breaking project for deaf children, and we at Arsenal give it our full support. Football Festivals such as the one held at Arsenal in the Community will give deaf children the chance to play football in an open and accessible environment. We hope the project will encourage football clubs across the country to become deaf aware and help deaf children around the UK to become great footballers.

Leeds United

Over 20 children attended the first North of England deaf football festival on a sunny September Saturday.

The children all got to take part in coaching sessions and mini games organised by the excellent Leeds United Football in the Community coaches. Support came from NDCS volunteers and Leeds Deaf FC players.

At the end of the day, all the players received goodies kindly donated by one of our key project sponsors, Phonak UK!

Thank you for all the players, parents, coaches and volunteers who took part for helping make the festival such a fantastic day!

"Football truly is the people's sport and any venture to make it accessible to a wider range of people deserves to be fully supported by everyone. I think that the plan to teach deaf adults to qualify as coaches is every bit as important as providing the youngsters with an opportunity to play. It appears that the long term goal is provide  properly structured football for all deaf people and I think that is brilliant."
