What is the Deaf-Friendly Football Project?
IN 2007 the NDCS was awarded over £250,000 by the Football Foundation, Phonak UK Ltd and Sportsmatch to set up the Deaf-Friendly Football Club Project. The project has since received further support from the Football Foundation and The FA to enhance and develop the project further.
The project is now in it's 5th year and continues to support, develop and grow opportunities for deaf children and young people to participate in football.
The project is designed to give all deaf children and young people the chance to play football in a safe, supportive and fun environment, either in mainstream football clubs or deaf football clubs.
For the past five years we have been working with grassroots clubs, deaf football clubs and top professional clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal, so there are lots of ways to get involved!
Whether you are a young deaf person, parent, coach, budding coach, volunteer, player or official, read on to see how you can get involved as we attempt to develop the project further and ensure that every deaf child has the opportunity to participate in the great game!
