What is rugby union?
Rugby union is played by two teams of 15 players per side; points are scored for a try, penalty, drop kick or conversion

EDRU was set up to enable deaf & hard of hearing people to get together & enjoy the sport of rugby and be able to participate in every aspect whether training, match, or knowing socially that there aren't any communication
What do these organisations do?
The RFU and England Deaf Rugby are working together to develop rugby for deaf children, young people and adults by increasing awareness and accessibility. In partnership with NDCS they run taster sessions for deaf children and young people. They also offer clubs advice and support about how to include deaf players. EDRU play international men’s matches across the country against deaf and hearing teams. The RFU supports a network of 1500 rugby clubs and 35,000 coaches across England.
When do they meet?
Rugby clubs across the country meet weekly for training and matches. Deaf and hearing impaired players all play in mainstream clubs and leagues and meet with EDRU for training weekends and matches.
How are they deaf friendly?
There are already lots of rugby clubs who are inclusive of the needs of deaf players (as the England Deaf players have been playing in clubs for years!).
