About the event

NDCS is holding a family weekend from 20-22 March 2009 in Holiday Inn Manchester Airport, Manchester. This weekend is especially for families with deaf children who have been newly identified within the last 12-18 months.

This weekend is an opportunity for families from across England to spend a relaxing and informative few days in the company of other families who all have at least one thing in common – they have a child who has recently been diagnosed with a hearing loss. The weekend will be led by experienced NDCS staff and guest speakers will join us for specialist sessions. Accommodation & meals are included.

The topics covered will include:

• Sharing experiences
• Understanding audiology
• Communication can be fun
• Information on local support
• A deaf child in the family - real life experiences

We even take all your little ones off your hands during the day. They will be cared for by registered childminders and take part in a range of activities.

“I felt really nervous about coming to the weekend but once I got there it was just great to be with other families who knew what I was talking about! It's such a relief to chat to someone experiencing the same things.”

To book a place on this event please download the form and return it to us as soon as possible.  We only take 12 families per weekend and often have a waiting list.
