Partners and projects
By working closely with our partners we are able to do even more to improve the lives of deaf children and their families.
We work with a range of partners to deliver our services and ensure that deaf children and young people can access opportunities and support through a range of mainstream and deaf organisations. This allows us to draw on skills and experiences, reach more beneficiaries, in more geographical areas and contribute to successful outcomes for deaf young people and their families.
Examples of our work include:
Ear Foundation Technology Partnership
Our ongoing work with the Ear Foundation has led to deaf young people themselves designing new technology to help other deaf children and young people and presenting this to key technology industry professionals. Together, the National Deaf Children’s Society and The Ear Foundation brought together expertise from professionals in the field of deaf technology at a horizon scanning event and ran a competition for deaf young people themselves to design new technology.
Rathbone Training Ltd Apprenticeship Partnership
The National Deaf Children is working with Rathbone Training Ltd to ensure quality apprenticeship opportunities are widely available for deaf young people. Together we are running a conference for apprenticeship providers which capitalises on Rathbone’s expertise and network of apprenticeship providers and the National Deaf Children’s Society’s experience supporting deaf young people in employment.
Youth Hostel Association
By providing training, resources and expertise to Youth Hostel Association staff to cascade to their volunteers, we have been able to ensure that deaf young people can fully benefit from the Youth Hostel Association’s centres and activities.
We also partner with our local groups to ensure deaf children, young people and their families are able to access excellent peer support opportunities.
