Michael and co’s magnificent men’s 10k

Published Date: 26 Nov 2019

National Deaf Children’s Society supporter Michael Blake and his eight friends sacrificed their Sunday morning to take part in a fundraising run, and raised £1,179!

Michael Blake, Sandy Gourlay, Callum Mackinnon, Danny McMillan, Dougie Hill, John Baillie, Keith Inglis, Brian Silvester and Colin Wishart took on the challenging Men’s 10K in Edinburgh and chose to raise money for our charity as a friend has two deaf children. Starting off with an original target of £500, the group were delighted to more than double this amount.

Their final total is enough to give two deaf children the opportunity to go on a weekend event, where they can make friends, gain confidence and be included in the same way as any other child. These events may be the first time these children have ever met another deaf child, which is so powerful. These events can be transformative for the children who attend.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Michael and his team for doing such an amazing job with their running and fundraising!
