Deaf Child Worldwide's Strategy
Following the launch of our Every Moment Counts strategy last year, we’ve been exploring how we can make an even bigger impact through our international work.
We are developing ambitious plans focusing on newborn hearing screening and early intervention on childhood deafness.

Why we are changing
Since 2001, we have supported thousands of deaf children and their families in East Africa and Southeast Asia. We are proud to have worked side by side with partner organisations to champion the rights of deaf children.
Over the past 20 years, the world has changed significantly. We have seen priorities shift to climate change, recovery from the pandemic and a global cost of living crisis.
We have also witnessed huge new opportunities such as advances in technology and increased access to remote healthcare.
Now is the right time to consider how we can make an even bigger difference and achieve a wider reach and impact than ever before.
What is changing?
In line with our strategy, our international work will have a new focus on newborn hearing screening and early intervention.
- We want to support decision-makers in developing countries to deliver systemic change so that deaf children get the best start in life, wherever they live.
- We will continue to work closely with key stakeholders in different nations and regions to make this a reality.
Our new plans are ambitious and will take time. We’re keen to work with others and build this vision together. Over the coming year, we will learn and develop our approach.
