--

We're launching our new report looking at the experiences of deaf children in some of the world’s poorest communities. To showcase our report, we've organised an online event to bring together NGOs, academics, professionals and policy makers who work with deaf and disabled children in low income countries.

In his foreword to the report, UN Special Envoy for Global Education and Former UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown writes:

“The new Unheard Children report will serve as a vital resource for development specialists, governments, NGOs and global institutions for years to come."

What to expect

This short event will introduce Deaf Child Worldwide's latest report on the situation for deaf children in some of the world's poorest communities:

  • Director of Deaf Child Worldwide, Joanna Clark, will give a brief overview of the report, its findings and what action Governments, policy makers and international organisations can take.
  • You will hear from practitioners with lived experience in working in South Asia and East Africa, who will shine a spotlight on the challenges faced by many deaf children and how to build programmes that break down the barriers they face.
  • The Head of the Disability Inclusion Team at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Penny Innes, will give an overview of what the UK government is doing to support disabled children around the world and what other organisations can learn from the programmes they have developed.
  • This event will close with a short panel discussion with the event's participants.

The report will be available online from the morning of Tuesday 1 December for attendees.
