Help inspire deaf young people as they enter the world of work
If you’re deaf, aged 18 and over, and happy to share your experiences of volunteering, your job or career, then we’d love to use your story to inspire other deaf young people. We’re always on the lookout for people with all levels of deafness and in all types of jobs and sectors to support our work with deaf young people.
How sharing your story can help
By sharing your story, you will help to inspire and encourage others as they start to navigate their own careers. You’ll get to talk about how you achieved your current job or career, and share insights you’ve gained and barriers you overcame along the way.
As a role model, we’d use your story as part of our Deaf Works Everywhere campaign and other projects and services we offer. Our Deaf Works Everywhere campaign aims to get more deaf young people into work – and into jobs that inspire them.
Our target audience are deaf young people aged 13 to 25. They may be deciding what GCSEs and A-levels to complete and whether they’ll continue with school, college or university. We also support those considering apprenticeships, internships, traineeships, employment, and volunteering or work experience options.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for role models who are:
- deaf - we welcome all levels of deafness
- aged 18 and older
- based in the UK
- in current employment or retired.
How we’ll use your story
As a role model, we may contact you occasionally to ask if you’d be happy to share your story or be a case study on our website or social media. There may also be opportunities to feature in a video or speak to the media. We would always contact you first to check you were happy with us sharing your story.
How to get involved
If you’d like to help us inspire the next generation of deaf young people, please register your interest and we’ll be in touch soon.
