Events and activities
Getting together and having fun is a big part of what local deaf children's societies do. Here you’ll find resources to help ensure your events and activities are safe and successful.
Our Running Youth Activities guide will help you organise and deliver successful and safe events for young people. It includes some helpful tips and ideas to help with planning. It also outlines the key health and safety considerations which all local groups should keep in mind when organising their youth event.
Risk assessments
All groups should complete a risk assessment for every event or activity they organise. For guidance, complete the following risk assessment template.
Insurance for groups
Always remember to make sure that your event or activity is covered by your group's insurance policy! If you're ever not sure, our brokers are very happy to advise.
See the section on Insurance below for more information, or contact us to ask a question.
We cover the cost of a basic insurance policy for affiliated deaf children's societies.
However, please read the policy carefully to check if it covers all the events and activities you run. You are able to enhance the cover, but this is at the cost to your own local group.
For more information about your individual cover, to talk about an upcoming event, or for advice, please contact our insurance brokers Arthur J Gallagher on 0121 200 4943. They have a wealth of experience in supporting local deaf children's societies and will be happy and able to answer any questions you have.
Take a look at the Insurance for Local Groups Guide for more info.
Our Community Group Insurance brochure outlines what's covered.
Annual meetings and networking
We offer local deaf children’s societies the opportunity to get together and meet other groups from across the regions, to celebrate successes and share challenges, by hosting a series of annual meetings – generally around Autumn time.
The local groups team provide updates on activity across the organisation, as well as advice and training to help you maximise your group's potential and continue your great work in the community.
Many groups leave feeling motivated and inspired, with fresh ideas and new tricks up their sleeves!
