Health and safety information

Photo: We take health and safety very seriously on the Roadshow bus

The Roadshow bus

The Roadshow bus is a mobile information unit, which transforms from a heavy goods vehicle into a classroom. Hosting the bus requires a large space that is level and tarmacked, such as a playground, and access to electricity.

Dimensions of the Roadshow bus – please read these before booking to ensure you have enough space to host the bus

  • Height: 3.8m
  • Length: 8.5m
  • Length to allow wheelchair access: 11.3m
  • Width unopened: 2.5m
  • Width opened up for display: 7.5m
  • Weight: 8.3 tonnes

The Roadshow also needs to be within 40m of an electricity supply (ordinary 13 amp, three-pin plug point).

Electrical safety certificate – the Roadshow bus is tested annually and the certificate can be downloaded here for organiser records.

Template Risk Assessment – the Roadshow conducts a risk assessment for the vehicle, however it is the responsibility of the organiser to risk assess the event and the individual needs of those attending.

Insurance – the Roadshow is covered under the National Deaf Children's Society's public liability insurance, certificates are available to be downloaded by organisers.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check – all of the Roadshow staff have an up to date DBS, PVG and Access NI check which can be requested to be seen by organisers before we arrive at the venue
