Raising a deaf child can be challenging with many families needing guidance to help understand the impact deafness can have.

Training overview

This CPD accredited online workshop uses evidence-based strategies that deliver positive impact for families and deaf children.

It will give you a wealth of ideas and strategies to improve the way you support parents and carers, whilst providing you with the opportunity to practise new approaches. It is designed to teach you how to use our resource with parents and carers you support.

You will finish feeling inspired and confident to deliver our programme to the families you work with. We will provide you with all the plans, resources and evaluation tools you need. Enabling you to deliver and measure the impact of the programme.

Sian Wilson has worked at the National Deaf Children’s Society for seven years supporting families of deaf children and the professionals working with them. Her current role involves developing and delivering training to practitioners working with deaf children in the early years.

Sian has over 30 years’ experience of supporting children and their families, including six years in a Hearing Impaired department of a primary school and 11 years working in a deprived area in Wales as part of Sure Start.

Sian initially qualified as an NNEB and also has a degree in Childhood Studies. She has qualified with Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP) stage 2.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel your place at any time, however the following charges apply.

  • 20 working days or less before the planned date - you will be charged 100% of the total cost
  • 21 - 30 working days before the planned date - you will be charged 50% of the total cost
  • 31 working days before the planned date - you will not be charged
