Module overview

This CPD accredited module is the perfect place to start learning about deaf awareness, and only takes about 15 minutes to complete.

This module covers:

  • lip-reading
  • the difference between British Sign Language (BSL) and Sign Supported English (SSE)
  • basic fingerspelling
  • basic greetings in BSL.

What you'll learn

By the end of this module you'll be able to:

  • identify some of the challenges deaf people experience when communicating with hearing people
  • name some things you can do to make lip-reading easier
  • use some basic fingerspelling and basic BSL signs.

This module should take about 15 minutes to complete.
