Healthy Minds

Photo: It is important to know how mental health affects deaf children and young people

Are you a professional who works with deaf children and young people? Do you want creative ideas to help you support their emotional health and well-being?

Our one-day interactive training day will help you know how to effectively use the Healthy Minds resource. You will have opportunities to try these techniques and methods throughout the day, sharing further knowledge and ideas with other like-minded professionals. You’ll leave the training feeling inspired and confident to encourage deaf children and young people to explore ideas and create strategies to prevent low self-esteem and poor mental health.

Key themes

  • Understanding the Healthy Minds programme and why it is important
  • Ways to develop good emotional vocabulary
  • Identifying support mechanisms and networks
  • Understanding identity
  • Owning and managing deafness
