Raising a deaf child can be challenging with many families needing guidance to help understand the impact deafness can have.
This CPD accredited online workshop uses evidence-based strategies that deliver positive impact for families and deaf children.
It will give you a wealth of ideas and strategies to improve the way you support parents and carers, whilst providing you with the opportunity to practise new approaches. It is designed to teach you how to use our resource with parents and carers you support.
You will finish feeling inspired and confident to deliver our programme to the families you work with. We will provide you with all the plans, resources and evaluation tools you need. Enabling you to deliver and measure the impact of the programme.

- 1x e-learning module
- 2x live workshops
For the live webinars, you have the choice of afternoons or evenings.
Location and cost
Each live event will be held online on Zoom and costs £70. Ticket sales will close 1 week before the start of the event. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions before booking.
Membership discounts
As a member of the National Deaf Children's Society, you are entitled to a discount on our training events and conferences.
If your organisation is signed up to our Educational membership you are entitled to a 50% discount.
If you are an individual Professional member you are entitled to a 10% discount.

Is the Raising a deaf child online facilitator training CPD accredited?
Yes, this online training is CPD accredited and will equate to 3 CPD hours / points, certified by CPD UK. Delegates who complete this training will receive a certificate of attendance.
Can we have the resources without attending the training?
As part of our quality assurance – the Raising a Deaf Child Facilitator Training resources are only available for those who have attended the training.
Can I join using any device?
You can access these workshops on any compatible device. We would recommend you join via your computer or laptop to fully contribute through the day. You can join using a phone or tablet if necessary, however we cannot guarantee that all of the functions will work on these devices.
Do I need to do any prep before attending the live workshop(s)?
Yes, you will need to complete the following prior to the first live workshop:
- pre-event survey: a mandatory survey to gauge current confidence levels
- e-learning module: an mandatory e-learning module that will take roughly 1 hour to complete
Both of these will be available for completion on our online training hub, prior to the first live workshop. We will provide you with log in details closer to the event date, if you do not already have an account.
Do I need to book my own communication support?
No. All communication support requirements including captions and BSL interpreting are available by request only, when booking.
What if I need to cancel?
If you are unable to attend and need to cancel your place, please contact us at [email protected]. Refunds will be available as below.
If you cancel:
- 7 working days or less before the planned date, you will be charged 100% of the total cost
- 8-14 working days before the planned date, you will be charged 50% of the total cost
- 15 working days before the planned date, you will not be charged.
Please note, if you cancel your place you will be cancelling all 3 modules. Cancellations and refunds are not available for individual modules.
Do I need to be a member?
No, however if you'd like to become a professional member you can join for free. Our membership allows you to join our community of professionals who are supporting deaf children, young people and their families throughout the UK.

Can I give my place to a friend or colleague if I can't come?
Yes, however you must notify us in advance, at least 3 days before the workshop takes place via [email protected].
Can I share my log in details with a friend of colleague to join?
No. The log in details are for 1 person only.
There will be a registration period prior to the start of the event where we will be checking the name of those entering against the delegate list (names of those registered to the purchased tickets).
If your name does not feature on the list, you will not be allowed entry to the workshop.
I can't find a suitable date, what other options are there?
We can also deliver a bespoke workshop package, tailored to your organisation's needs and delivered online at a time that suits you.
