Hi my 10 month old does not want to keep his hearing aids in. he typically chews his right aid but the audiologist assures me this is normal. I really want him to keep them in but don't want to force it so he hates them. i have looked into bonnets but he also hates anything on his head. He won't keep on a hat or band. Any suggestions appreiciated

Our son was the same at that age.  We found that his hearing aids moving around would annoy or alert him to the fact they were there.  We started to use toupee (double sided) tape from our audiologist to secure his aids to the side of his head (it's not as brutal as it sounds).  We found that with his aids secured he would forget that they were there and generally leave them alone.

We had exactly the same problem Around the same age. We found we had to take them out every time we went in the car as he'd pull them out, apart then chew on the moulds.
We were told kids will go through phases and our son really has. My advice would be to just keep trying to put them in and various times in the day. My son is 2.5 now and wears them nearly every day without any issues and has done for at least 6 months if that's of any reassurance.

Sorry I don't have any advice on this as my daughter (aged 2) does the same- she pulls one out as one is going in! It's so frustrating. This is just a "I hear you" response. Hope it gets easier soon, I think at this age it's a case of trying is good enough. Good luck!

My daughter was terrible when she was young we tried alsorts. Tape and bonnets but these didn't help. I just use to put them in for small amounts of time to try and get her use to the feel of them. It did take along time but she eventually left them alone. She's now 13 and still hates wearing them she will take them out at any opportunity that she doesn't need them. But at least she puts them somewhere safe. We've had them thrown through the car window on the Motorway, fully dismantled including battery department 😢 put under the grill and burned. We had to get 2/3 sets of moulds taken as she would throw them and those things are like little power balls we couldn't find them anywhere. Hence the back ups.

Hello, it happens all to often. The advice we were given was don't rush to put them back in, we were more worried about our son loosing them or eating a mould.   we never did find the one that was removed in the supermarket 🤔 probably ended up in a packet of cereal.  So don't panic and take one day at a time, before long you will  be asked for hearing aids to be put in.

Yes that is what babies do. I found that if helped to replace with a teething toy - giving them something else to chew keeping thier fingers busy. And yes... perserverence pays off. it doesn't take too long til they learn it's worrh it to keep them in.
