Trustees
Our trustees help guide the charity’s strategy and direction. They are legally responsible for making sure the charity is solvent, well-run, spends its money wisely and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Most of our trustees are parents and carers of deaf children.
How trustees are elected
We have a maximum of 12 trustees, the majority of which must be elected by our members. Our elected trustees must be parents or carers of deaf children and full members of the charity. The honorary chair must be the parent of a deaf child.
We also co-opt trustees who can enhance the skills of the board. Co-opted trustees do not have to be full members of the National Deaf Children’s Society.
Each year, one-third of the trustees – those who have been in office the longest – should offer themselves for re-election. Trustees serve for a maximum of 9 consecutive years. After this, they must wait at least 3 years before being eligible to stand again.
Get in touch at trustees@ndcs.org.uk if you would like to know when trustee vacancies become available.
