Tinnitus

Tinnitus is the name for the sensation of hearing sounds that seem to come from your own ears or brain, rather than from something outside your body making a noise. Most people with tinnitus hear a ringing, buzzing, humming, whistling or crackling noise.

Most deaf children with tinnitus don’t feel that it affects them. They may not even recognise that they have tinnitus. This page explains why tinnitus happens and how to support a child who is affected by tinnitus.
